“Voices of Asia 2025” is a free multicultural concert celebrating the rich musical heritage of six Asian regions, presented by Vibra Voce and hosted at LA’s historic Wilshire Ebell Theatre to promote inclusion, storytelling, and cultural connection through music.

Voices of Asia: A Cultural Tapestry Comes Alive at the Ebell Theatre

On Sunday, May 4th, 2025, at 4:30 PM, the historic Wilshire Ebell Theatre will welcome audiences to a vibrant celebration of culture, history, and harmony. Voices of Asia, now in its fifth year, is more than just a concert—it is a stirring tribute to the depth and diversity of Asian cultural heritage. This highly anticipated event is presented by Vibra Voce, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit committed to elevating underrepresented voices in classical and community music.

Allyson Park

This year, Vibra Voce is honored to be partnering with the Ebell of Los Angeles as part of their new, free LA Voices Concert series.
In a city as diverse as Los Angeles, Voices of Asia feels not only timely but vital. It invites listeners on a journey across traditions and generations—offering everything from traditional folk songs to newly composed works. The event brings together a stunning lineup of local artists and musicians, each one weaving their own story into a larger communal narrative. And in keeping with Vibra Voce’s mission of accessibility and inclusion, admission to the concert is completely free with RSVP.

Uplifting Voices, Building Bridges Through Music

This year’s Voices of Asia showcases music from six distinct Asian regions—Korea, China, Japan, India, Malaysia, and the Philippines—each represented through songs, stories, and instruments. The program highlights both ancestral roots and contemporary expressions of Asian identity, making space for the wide range of voices that comprise the Asian diaspora.
Among the featured composers is Nathan Wang, an award-winning Chinese American musician whose work in film, television, and live performance has earned him acclaim for seamlessly blending classical, traditional, and modern styles.
Wang’s contributions to this year’s performance speak to the dual experience of many Asian Americans—honoring cultural roots while navigating life in a complex, evolving world. His compositions are layered with emotion and memory, resonating deeply with those who carry stories of diaspora, migration, and adaptation.
Beyond choral music, this year’s concert also features dynamic instrumental performances, including piano and traditional instruments such as the Korean
gayageum, offering a rich and immersive soundscape that reflects Asia’s diverse artistic legacies.
Through the universal language of music, Voices of Asia encourages dialogue between generations, cultures, and communities. It is an evening not just of listening, but of connecting—through shared emotion, lived experiences, and mutual respect.

Presented by Vibra Voce: A Mission of Mentorship, Equity, and Empowerment

At the heart of this concert lies Vibra Voce’s deeply personal and community-driven mission. Founded by celebrated Korean-American soprano Sunjoo Yeo, the organization strives to create artistic spaces where underrepresented voices can thrive. Since 2018, Vibra Voce has presented inclusive and impactful performances across Los Angeles, offering mentorship, visibility, and creative platforms for young and emerging artists.
One of Vibra Voce’s central beliefs is that music should be a public good. By offering concerts like Voices of Asia free of charge, they remove financial barriers that often prevent people from experiencing the transformative power of live performance. In doing so, they create an artistic community where culture is not commodified but shared generously—an ethos that is rare and necessary in today’s arts landscape.
Many of the performers at Voices of Asia are rising musicians and artists who have been mentored through Vibra Voce’s educational programs. Their voices reflect the organization’s long-standing commitment to cultivating the next generation of culturally aware, socially engaged artists.

Fundraising for the Future: Supporting Art, Equity, and Access

While Voices of Asia is free for the public to attend, the event also serves as a crucial fundraising opportunity to support Vibra Voce’s year-round programming. Guests will have the chance to learn more about the organization’s impact, meet artists, and contribute to a cause that champions inclusivity and cultural empowerment.
Donations and generosity from the community will help fund future shows and support emerging artists—ensuring that music and representation remain accessible to all.
Funds raised will go directly toward Vibra Voce’s mentorship programs, future concerts, educational workshops, and community outreach initiatives—ensuring that music remains a bridge, not a barrier. Vibra Voce aims to expand its reach, provide more performance opportunities for diverse artists, and keep classical and cultural music accessible to all.

A Historic Venue Meets a Historic Moment

The Wilshire Ebell Theatre is more than a venue; it is a living monument to Los Angeles’ cultural heritage and a beacon of empowerment, creativity, and community. Founded in 1894, The Ebell of Los Angeles is one of the city’s oldest and most influential women-led organizations. Its mission—to advance women through education, the arts,
and civic engagement—has shaped generations of Angelenos and continues to inspire today.
In 1927, The Ebell opened its Italian Renaissance-style campus in the heart of Mid-Wilshire, designed by architect Sumner P. Hunt. Spanning 75,000 square feet, the complex includes a grand dining room, art salon, library, and the 1,238-seat Wilshire Ebell Theatre. The theatre, renowned for its acoustics and elegance, has hosted luminaries such as Amelia Earhart, who made her final public appearance here, and a young Judy Garland, discovered on its stage.
The Ebell’s commitment to cultural enrichment is evident in its diverse programming, from art exhibitions and performances to educational symposia. Its spaces have been featured in numerous films and television shows, reflecting its status as an architectural and cultural icon.
Voices of Asia is deeply honored to partner with such an iconic institution. To share our stories and music within these storied walls is both a privilege and a profound alignment of purpose. Before the concert begins, guests are invited to experience docent-led tours
of the Ebell’s historic campus—an opportunity to step into the legacy that continues to shape LA’s cultural identity.
To host Voices of Asia at the Ebell is more than symbolic—it’s a celebration of shared values, a fusion of past and present, and a testament to the transformative power of inclusive storytelling. We are truly grateful for this partnership and the chance to add our voices to this living legacy.
A Celebration That Resonates Far Beyond the Final Note
In today’s social and political climate, where misunderstanding and division often dominate headlines, Voices of Asia stands as a hopeful counterpoint. It reminds us that culture can heal. That music can connect. That heritage, when shared and celebrated, becomes a source of strength for all.
For members of the Asian American community, the concert is a source of pride and visibility—a chance to see their stories honored on stage. For others, it’s a meaningful opportunity to learn, reflect, and celebrate in solidarity. Through its diverse performances, Voices of Asia paints a fuller, richer portrait of what it means to be part of a global, multicultural society.
In an era of increasing polarization, the concert offers a much-needed reminder: when we listen to one another—truly listen—we find more in common than we might expect.
