On the night of August 8, 2025, I went for my daily nighttime jog in Hangang, Korea. Suddenly, I heard a loud noise, so I looked over to the lake. There was a boat that caught on fire. People screamed, and the smoke was getting darker and bigger.
According to the fire authorities, the six people who were on the yacht evacuated when the fire broke out and are currently receiving emergency treatment from firefighters.
There were no casualties from the fire, and it has been reported that the individuals sustained only minor injuries. Upon receiving the report of the yacht fire, the authorities dispatched 19 vehicles and 61 personnel, successfully extinguishing the fire completely at around 9:16 p.m., approximately 30 minutes after it started.
Boat incidents like this indicate how important it is for people to be more cautious when out on the water. Fires or accidents can happen suddenly, and without quick action, the results can be tragic. In this case, the six people on board were incredibly lucky to survive. It’s truly impressive how they managed to evacuate the yacht safely and quickly after the fire broke out.
The yacht fire on the Hangang River serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety. Quick evacuation and prompt rescue efforts prevented any loss of life in this incident.- Editor’s Note
