많은 학부모들에게 가장 중요한 고민 중 하나는 자녀를 가장 좋은 공립 고등학교에 진학시키는 것일 것이다. 일부 가정은 좋은 학교 진학을 위해 이사를 가기도 한다.
하지만 수 천 곳의 학교 가운데, 뛰어난 성적과 학생들의 성공적인 미래를 약속할 수 있는 학교는 그리 많지 않다.
6일 KTLA는 Stacker가 학교, 기업, 커뮤니티 관련 조사 기업인 Niche의 자료를 통해 분석한 캘리포니아에서 가장 우수한 공립 고등학교 순위를 보도했다.
Niche는 이번 조사에서 학교내 시험과 SAT/ACT 성적을 기반으로 한 학업 성적 60%, 교내 문화와 다양성, 학부모와 학생들을 대상으로 한 설문조사 결과를 반영했다.
또, 교사진 평가에 각각 10%씩, 그리고 학교 내 클럽 활동과 안전, 시설, 스포츠 등에 각각 2.5%씩 비중을 두고 평가했다.
