We are conducting a thorough investigation, and it would be premature to make any assumptions without concrete evidence.”

Time Kurzbach, the Solingen mayor, addressed the city in a statement posted on the city’s official Facebook page. “This evening, all of us in Solingen are experiencing shock, horror, and great sadness,” Kurzbach wrote. “We all wanted to celebrate our city’s anniversary together, and now we are forced to mourn the dead and injured.” Kurzbach expressed his sympathy to the families of the victims and expressed his gratitude to the rescue and security personnel who responded. “My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this difficult time,” he added. “I also want to thank our brave police officers and first responders who are working tirelessly to keep our city safe.” The mayor’s words reflected the deep sense of sorrow that has settled over Solingen. “I ask you, if you believe, pray with me, and if not, then hope with me,” says Kurzbach. The “Festival of Diversity” had been a vibrant celebration of Solingen’s history, culture, and community spirit.

The Bergisch Symphony Orchestra, a shared ensemble for the cities of solingen and Remscheild, was supposed to perform on the main stage on friday evening.
